Voluntary Opportunities

Victims of crime need people they can rely on to help them.  Victim Support Lambeth can only help them with the involvement of local people as volunteers.  We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds and provide full training.

Benefits of being a volunteer

  • good work experience

  • a way of being involved in your local community

  • a chance to develop and use counselling skills

  • an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people around you and to enjoy the satisfaction this brings

Training

  • Takes place three times a year.  Dates are unknown as of it.

For more information on being a Victim Support volunteer please contact Tanja Kucan.

Education and Training Opportunities

Social Work Students

Victim Support Lambeth offers student placements to those participating in the Diploma in Social Work. Placements at Victim Support Lambeth are for three months, are fully supervised and fulfil all the competences required by CCETSW.

Social Work students participate in all aspects of the work of the scheme, gaining insight into the work of a well known voluntary agency and of other agencies working in the community, with links to Social Services.  There is an opportunity to work with people of all ages, from all backgrounds.  Students have contact with victims needing both short and longer term involvement with Victim Support. They make telephone contact with victims, undertake home visits, see people in the office, and support victims through advocacy and referral to other agencies.

Trainee Counsellors

Supervised placements are available at Victim Support Lambeth, for students on fully accredited counselling courses.  Counsellors work with victims of Domestic Violence and other traumatised people who need space to consider their lives and the choices available to them.

School/College Students

There are sometimes opportunities for school/college students to come and do work experience in the Victim Support Lambeth office.  We seek committed young people keen to work as a part of a team, who are able to help with general office administration and entering information on our database.  Work experience placements give students the opportunity to learn about the work of a community based voluntary organisation, and about how a small office is run.
